Safety Region South Limburg
The Safety Region South Limburg is one of 25 safety regions in our country. It is a regional partnership of, among others, 18 municipalities, police, fire brigade and the Medical Assistance Organization in the region.
The task of the safety region is to protect you against (health) hazards, disasters and crises. As a rule, municipalities are too small for that task. Moreover, a disaster or crisis often exceeds municipal boundaries which means that a regional approach is much more effective. Parties within the safety region regularly practise together, provide training and develop plans for a safer region. Severe incidents in the recent past have proven all too well the importance of cooperation on a regional level. Examples are the fireworks disaster in Enschede, the fire in the pub in Volendam and the crash of the Turkish Airlines plane at Schiphol.
