Driving licence
Applying for and collecting a driving licence is possible in the municipality in which you are registered. The applicable fees can be paid during the appointment. Your driving licence is ready for collection after 5 working days. If you need it urgently, an expedited application is possible, subject, however, to additional costs.
Applying for, renewing or upgrading your driving licence?
You are kindly requested to make an appointment. Please contact us by phone on +31 45 52 78 555. Our offices are open from Monday to Thursday from 09:00 to 16:00 and on Friday from 09:00 to 12:00.
Collection
To collect your driving licence you don’t have to make an appointment. You are requested to come in person and hand in your old driving licence.
Please bring with you
- Your old licence, if you have applied for a renewal or a category upgrade.
- Valid identification when applying for a first licence or in case you lost your licence.
- A recent passport photo in colour, meeting the requirements.
Costs
- Driving licence: € 41.
- Additional costs for expedited application: € 34.10
You can pay in cash or with your debit card.
Driving licence lost or stolen?
In case your driving licence is lost or stolen, please notify us immediately on +31 45 52 78 555 . It is important you inform us as soon as possible to prevent fraud.

Validity driving licence
A driving licence is, in principle, valid for 10 years. This changes when you turn 65 or when a medical examination is required:
- You are between 65 and 70 years of age: your driving licence is renewed until your 75th birthday.
- You are between 70 and 75 years of age: your driving licence is renewed for 5 years.
- You are aged 75 or over: your driving licence is renewed for a maximum of 5 years, subject to a medical examination.
- In case a medical examination is required due to illness: subject to the result of the examination.
